Jerusalem day 1

Today, Saturday, we slept in a little and after a quick breakfast at the hotel buffet, which was not nearly as nice as any of the previous buffets (Probably due to Shabbat), we headed out towards The Jaffa Gate of The Old City looking for Zion Walking Tours’ Four Quarters tour.  However, when we arrived at noon, we found out that the tours are 9 am, 11 am and 2 pm. We ended up not wanting to wait, so we headed through the Christian quarter and into the Moslem quarter.  It was fun shopping at many of the various small storefronts.  What really amazed me, was the complete different “feel” as we entered the Moslem area.  Similar shops selling entirely different foods, spices, pastries, etc.  The crowd was much more dense and loud in the Moslem area too.  We worked our way  back towards Jaffa Gate stopping for a Turkish coffee for me and ice cream for the kids.

Tonight we are scheduled for the Western Wall tunnel tour.  Really looking forward to that!
